Port of Nice
Surface de l’appartement, 120 m2
Terrasses, 7 m2
With its rare location on the upper level of the Neptune on the Port of Nice, the apartment was acquired as a holiday home by a British couple. The programme emphasized the objective of creating an open loft, within the structural and technical limits of this historic monument.
All existing partitions and finishes were removed, directing views to the west of the interior port with its fishing boats and yachts in perpetual motion, and to the south of the infinite perspective of the Mediterranean beyond the port. The new plan creates two compact suites overlooking the quiet inner courtyard of the building, freeing the long loft of reception space along the south and west facades with their uninterrupted views of the Port and the sea.
A new kitchen in rift sawn oak provides the centre point of a series of spaces leading from the entrance to the two salons, the smaller of which has been equipped as a large screen media room. Respecting planning regulations, the exterior spaces, as well as the news doors and shutters have been fabricated and restored by local craftsmen familiar with the building.
